Program will feature some of nation’s preeminent experts on women’s health issues
KANSAS CITY, MO. — The UMKC School of Nursing hosts the 37th Annual Women’s Health Care Symposium in Kansas City this week, March 22-23, at the Sheraton Kansas City Hotel at Crown Center. The Symposium is designed to provide women’s health care professionals with the latest clinical information, enabling them to improve the quality of care for women. Along with the School of Nursing, the symposium is co-hosted by Development Systems Inc.
Among the topics being covered at this year’s Symposium include:
- Pharmacology for Women During Pregnancy and Lactation
- Hereditary Breast Cancer
- Preventive Health Screening in Family Planning
- Impact of the Affordable Health Care Act on Reproductive Health Care
- Coding Case Studies for Experienced Clinician Coders
- LGBT Patient-Centered Care: Best Practices from the Institute of Medicine and the Joint Commission
This year’s symposium features a distinguished roster of expert presenters covering a variety of clinically relevant topics, including two presentations on Friday by acclaimed national speaker Barb Bancroft, RN, MSN, PNP. Noted for her humorous, entertaining and information packed seminars, Bancroft is the is author of the books “Medical Minutiae,” “An Apple a Day – the ABCs of Diet and Disease” and “Live a Little, Laugh a Lot.”
Bancroft will also present a special half-day post-conference seminar on March 24, from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., in the UMKC Health Sciences Building on Hospital Hill. The seminar, “Shampoos, Tattoos and Barbeques: Infectious Disease Update,” will provide an up-to-the minute update on infectious diseases and some of the most common ways they can be transmitted.
