UMKC Hosts fourth annual Agapito Mendoza Scholarship Breakfast

More than 200 campus and community members joined together to raise $10,300 – matched by UMKC at the payout – to apply toward the Agapito Mendoza Scholarships Fund to assist UMKC Latina/Latino students.

Latina/Latino students are a growing population with vital and unique experiences that add to the academic and cultural success of our institution. Awarding scholarships aids in attracting, retaining and graduating the students.

UMKC’s Miguel Carranza, professor and director of Latina(O)/Chicana(O) Studies, addressed the audience, encouraging participation in fundraising for the students.

Dr. Mendoza left a legacy at UMKC – a commitment to all students to make each one feel unique and valued. The goal of the university, the Divisions of Diversity, Access and Equity, Student Affairs and Enrollment Management and University Advancement and Alumni Affairs is to carry on Dr. Mendoza’s tradition of support for each and every UMKC student toward her or his particular academic dream. Watch the video below for a tribute to Agapito Mendoza.
