Italian organization also hosts Italian Lawyers Conference on Global Business, Economic and Financial Issues with UMKC School of Law and Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association

As part of a University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) School of Law continuing legal education conference, the Consiglio Nazionale Forense (Italy’s national bar council) will present two World War I-era postcards to the National World War I Museum at Liberty Memorial at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 11. The collection is being donated by Italian attorney Stephen Garbarino and I.A.N.U.S. – the International Association for the Next Uniform Standards – a law association based in Genoa, Italy.

Containing handwritten letters from Italian infantrymen, the postcards capture emotions surrounding a World War I victory under General Armando Diaz – who later attended Liberty Memorial’s inauguration in 1921.

Organized by Consiglio Nazionale Forense, the UMKC School of Law and the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association, the “Italian Lawyers Conference on Global Business, Economic and Financial Issues” takes place August 9-13 at the UMKC School of Law, 500 E. 52nd St., Kansas City, Mo.

After meeting the UMKC Continuing Legal Education (CLE) department at a conference in 2008, Consiglio Nazionale Forense’s president, Dr. Guido Alpa, and other Italian lawyers accepted UMKC’s invitation to the Kansas City conference.

Lawyers, judges, law professors and government officials will speak about the following topics: Italian private law; corporate partnering and direct investments in the U.S. and Italy; international law practice from an American lawyer’s perspective; international bankruptcy, insurance, tax, intellectual property and entrepreneurship issues; and corporate immigration issues.
