Arredondo Named Director of Admissions

Alice Arredondo, Ed.D., has been appointed as the new UMKC Director of Admissions.

Arredondo has been serving as interim director of admissions since February in addition to her longtime role as assistant dean of admissions and recruitment at the UMKC School of Medicine, which she began in 2008. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Truman State University and a Master of Science in higher education from the University of Kansas, where she also obtained her Doctor of Education degree.

Throughout her tenure at the School of Medicine, Arredondo has been active in influencing change in the school’s admissions and recruitment processes. She designed and implemented a robust, mission-driven review process for applicants, created a strategic recruitment plan and coordinated specific recruitment efforts that have increased diversity in the School of Medicine.

Prior to her position at UMKC, Arredondo worked in the Office of Admissions at KU serving as an assistant director, who oversaw the recruitment of high ability and international students. Before moving into her role as assistant director, Arredondo served as graduate assistant working with prospective students and families on the college-search process.

Arredondo will continue serving as assistant dean of admissions and recruitment until the fall when she will officially work full-time as Director of Admissions.
