Save the Date! Big Events Coming This Spring!

Welcome back!  It is a new year and time to tackle the new semester with renewed vigor and joie de vivre!  I know the first week is a bit hectic, so I just want to give you a preview of the big events happening with CSO this semester.  Get these dates on your calendar now!

February 2-6 – Public Interest Week!  This is the perfect time to learn about and meet a huge variety of public interest employers. From Legal Aid, to the local public defender and prosecutor offices, to government and non-profits of all stripes, the Public Interest Week will allow students to network and gain exposure to employers and potential opportunities.  We will have a Career Fair on February3,  a Service Luncheon the following day on February  4 and a new program to round out the week on February 5, on how to find internships and fellowships in the public interest world.

March 2-5 – Judicial Clerkship Initiative Week!  Thinking about or interested in learning more about judicial clerkships?  The Judicial Clerkship Initiative Week is a must then! We will offer programming on applying to clerkships, and judges and clerks will come on campus for a Clerkship Panel in the afternoon on March 3 and a Judicial Reception the same evening.

April 6-9 – Choose Business Week! CSO is excited to host Choose Business Week for the very first time and looks forward to providing students with insight into transactional law and other careers in the business world.  On April 8, employers will join us on campus to conduct panels and participate in a networking event with students. This week will also boast a workshop in which CSO will discuss how to craft your application materials for business related positions.

Also, keep on the lookout for announcements regarding a special guest career coach who will be coming on campus this semester!  This coach is a former attorney who is well-known nationally and is preparing a presentation directly for UMKC Law students.  She will discuss how to present yourself, react to failure and take hold of your career.   We are very lucky and excited to be hosting her on campus. Keep an eye on our upcoming announcements!

Best of luck everyone on the start of the Semester.  Come by and visit CSO when you get a chance!
