Green Dots are small, intentional actions anyone can take to influence culture change on our campus. Some Green Dots are reactive – actions you can take if you witness a potentially violent situation – and some Green Dots are proactive – actions you can take at any time to educate yourself, your friends and make your commitment to ending violence clear.
Green Dot is a comprehensive bystander intervention training program meant to encourage all members of the campus community to effectively respond to violence, including dating/intimate partner violence, sexual misconduct, and stalking. There are two upcoming Green Dot trainings that are open for all staff and faculty within the UMKC community. The first training is October 27th at 12pm and the second training is being offered on November 17th at 12pm. Registration is through myLearn at https://umsystem.skillport.com.
If you are interested in scheduling a bystander intervention training specifically for your office or department, please email email@example.com with the date and time you would like the training. A notice of at least three weeks is appreciated to allow us to secure facilitators for the training.
Anyone can do a Green Dot at any time, and when we get everyone at UMKC to do one Green Dot every day, we will reduce instances of violence on our campus and within our communities.
