Assistant Dean of Students for Student Engagement

Director, Office of Student Involvement

Todd joined the OSI staff in 2017 and is helping staff provide strategy for student involvement as a tool of retention and student success at UMKC.

Anthony Maly

Senior Program Manager

Pronouns: He/Him/His

Anthony joined the staff in 2017, serving as the advisor to the Union Programming Board. He also oversees the Student Organization event approval process and serves as the advisor to the campus chapter of ASUM. Additionally, he works to oversee initiatives related to new student and family programs, UMKC Health Science District initiatives and the Kangaroo Food Pantry.

Kari Jo Freudigmann

Assistant Director of LGBTQIA Programs and Services

Pronouns: She/her/hers

Kari Jo started in the Assistant Director role in 2018 and serves as a resource for LGBTQIA students, faculty, and staff.

Kim Kushner

Assistant Director of New Student and Family Programs

Pronouns: She/her/hers

Kim joined the OSI staff in 2019, after serving in the UMKC Office of Admissions as the Events and New Student Programs Coordinator since 2016. In her role, Kim facilitates new student programs, including UMKC Week of Welcome and other transition/retention initiatives. She also supports family/parent programming and communications, overseeing the UMKC Family Weekend.

Jeina Stoumbaugh

Coordinator for Leadership and Student Organization Development

Pronouns: She/Her/Hers

Jeina joined the OSI staff in 2021, after working in the UMKC School of Medicine’s Office of Admissions. As part of the OSI team, she assists over 300 student organizations in their operations while proving leadership growth and development opportunities.

Lynne O’Dell

Coordinator, Fraternity and Sorority Affairs

Pronouns: She/Her/Hers

Lynne joined the staff in the fall of 2018 and is the advisor to our 12 chapter fraternity and sorority community.

Taylor Blackmon

Student Basic Needs Coordinator

Pronouns: She/Her/Hers

Taylor joined the Office of Student Involvement staff recently in the Spring of 2021. In her role as Basic Needs Coordinator she will be able to connect students, faculty and staff to a variety of resources that will fulfill their basic needs.

Carrie Schmalz

Business Support Specialist

Carrie joined the OSI staff in 2019, after spending the majority of her career with UMKC Campus Recreation. In her role with OSI and Student Engagement, Carrie is responsible for assisting Student Organizations operations and finances, booking student travel and reviewing purchase requests for UMKC sponsored events. Within her role, she will also offer financial and program support for Campus Recreation as part of the Student Engagement Unit.

Sarah Amos

Graduate Assistant, Events & Entertainment

Sarah joined the staff as a Graduate Assistant for Events & Entertainment in the fall of 2020. In her role, she assists with advising the Union Programming Board, and helps manage and create content for OSI marketing efforts. She also aids in planning campus events and engagement opportunities for students, including Week of Welcome, Stress Less Fest, and other programming.

Meghann Ashey

Graduate Assistant, Fraternity and Sorority Affairs

Meghann joined the staff as the Graduate Assistant for Fraternity and Sorority Affairs in the Fall of 2021. In her role, she assists with advising our Fraternity and Sorority Community and works to develop meaningful programming designed to support the fraternity and sorority experience such as Hazing Prevention Week, Greek Week, and leadership programs.


Maddie Posz

Graduate Assistant, New Student and Transition Programs

Maddie joined the staff in Fall 2021 as a Graduate Assistant. She assists with programs meant to welcome students to campus and make them feel as though they are a part of the UMKC community, including Roo Welcome and National Transfer Student Week.
