Join the Conversation: Faculty Diversity Dialogues Begin Thursday

UMKC faculty are encouraged to attend the Faculty Diversity Dialogue sessions offered during the Fall 2017 semester (each session is offered on both main campuses). Sponsored by the Provost’s office and the Division of Diversity and Inclusion, Faculty Diversity Dialogues provide a safe space to openly discuss topics relating to diversity and inclusion. Don’t miss these discussions:

Open Dialogues
Discussing our current political climate and responding to events such as Charlottesville and the removal of statues, travel bans, and immigration laws.

  • Volker Campus: noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, FaCET conference room
  • Health Sciences Campus: 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 15, Health Sciences Building, Room 3301

Invisible Bias
Professor Sally Ellis Fletcher has taught or served in a capacity at private, public and urban organizations. Her book “Cultural Sensibility in Healthcare: A Personal and Professional Guidebook” (2015) represents her passion for cultural diversity, inclusion, and equity among healthcare workers, daily confronted with cultural clashing.

  • Volker Campus: noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, FaCET conference room
  • Health Sciences Campus: noon to 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29, Health Sciences Building, Room 4307

Diversity Dialogue sessions are specifically designed for faculty, and are faculty-run and faculty-oriented. Session facilitators will establish ground-rules for safe and open discussions. Bring your colleagues and join the conversation. Food will be provided.
