Art historian Christine Ross will present a lecture entitled “Long Duree Revisited: Experimenting with Time in Contemporary Art,” at 5:30 p.m., Oct. 10, in room 303 of the Miller Nichols Library at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

Her lecture is part of the Art and Art History Department’s 2013-2014 Visiting Artist & Scholar Lecture Series. It is free and open to the public.

Ross is a professor and James McGill Chair in Contemporary Art History in the Department of Art History and Communication Studies at McGill University. Her lecture will examine the Canadian artist Stan Douglas’ 16mm film installation Klatsassin [2006], which renews the sublime tradition and calls for reflection on conflicting histories. Douglas produces recombinant films and videos that unveil the persistent traces of the past in the present.
