Composer and University of Missouri-Kansas City student Chin Ting Chan received 3rd place nationally in The American Prize in Chamber Music Composition competition, 2013 – student division, for the work “Icebergs.” Chin Ting Chan was selected from applications reviewed this spring from all over the United States.
The American Prize is a series of new, non-profit, competitions designed to recognize and reward the best performing artists, ensembles and composers in the United States. The American Prize was founded in 2009 and is awarded annually in many areas of the performing arts.
According to his biography, Chan’s music has gained recognition from the Interdisciplinary Festival for Music and Sound Art in Vienna, Soli fan tutti Composition Prize, newEar contemporary chamber ensemble, Mid-American Center for Contemporary Music, and performances throughout the United States, Canada, Austria and Germany. He is currently pursuing a D.M.A. in composition at UMKC.
