UMKC School of Nursing and Health Studies Dean Lora Lacey-Haun was presented with a DAISY Faculty Award for 2013.

The Lambda Phi Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International, nursing’s only honor society, is the sponsor for the School of Nursing and Health Studies Daisy Faculty Award Program. At the Chapter’s recent induction ceremony, Lacey-Haun was honored as the first UMKC DAISY Award recipient.

The DAISY Award is given through the DAISY Foundation, a California-based organization with the acronym standing for diseases attacking the immune system. The DAISY programs were created to say thank you to nurses for their extraordinary work and lives they touch. The Daisy Faculty award Lacey-Haun received celebrates nursing faculty for their inspirational influence on the nurses of tomorrow.

Lacey-Haun will retire next month from UMKC, where she’s been a professor, assistant dean and since 2004, dean.
