With hundreds of visitors, 3,500 employees and more than 14,000 students, UMKC encourages staff and faculty who commute to campus to explore alternative transportation options. UMKC offers numerous options to save on fuel and parking fees while contributing to our mission of creating a more sustainable campus.
The Kansas City Area Transportation Authority’s Transit Rider’s Incentive Plan (TRIP)By participating in the TRIP program, KC Metro offers UMKC employees a Reduced Fare KC Metro unlimited ride bus pass. Pass purchasing can be set up through automatic payroll deduction (pre-tax). By doing so, the fee for the pass is exempt from payroll taxes.
The JO Johnson County Passport
UMKC employees who purchase their JO Passport unlimited ride bus pass using automatic payroll deduction can receive a significant discount.
Rideshare is a publicly-funded commuter matching service for anyone who lives, works or attends school in the Greater Kansas City area. Rideshare helps employees find riding opportunities with other commuters (i.e. - other UMKC employees or employees of various businesses in the vicinity).
Does not having transportation on campus concern you?In the case of any daytime emergencies, employees who participate in any of these three programs (TRIP, JO Passport, and Rideshare) are automatically eligible for a Guaranteed Ride Home Program.
Need to travel to a meeting across campus or on the other UMKC campus? Check out the the UMKC Shuttle Bus schedule. It’s free with many convenient stops around both the Volker and Hospital Hill campuses.
And what about transportation to that 2 p.m. appointment? Try out the “wheels when you want them” – UMKC Zipcar. Low hourly and daily rates are available to all employees.
