UMKC proudly hosts a number of notable events throughout the year.  Due to the volume of programs our students and staff provide, the schedule looks a bit different each year.  Here are a couple ways to stay connected with what’s going on:

Ways to Connect:

LGBTEvents Listserv: We send out periodic updates for upcoming events, programs, and information at UMKC or the Kansas City community.  We try not to overwhelm you, but sometimes there are a lot things to share!

Follow us on Facebook! All events, programs, and points of interest are available on our Facebook page.

Pride Alliance Facebook Group: It’s a private group to respect folks confidentiality.  But it’s a great community page to share relevant information or see what’s coming up.

UMKC Signature Events:

UMKC Pride Lecture: Typically hosted in the fall, the UMKC Pride Lecture has featured notable figures from the LGBT community, including Lea DeLaria (coming soon!), Laverne Cox, Dustin Lance Black, and Ari Shapiro.  This program is hosted by our colleagues the UMKC Division of Diversity and Inclusion.

UMKC Pride Breakfast: Typically hosted in the spring, the UMKC Pride Breakfast is our annual fundraiser supporting the LGBTQIA Empowerment Fund.  This fund supports our LGBTQIA students who experience loss of family support after coming out. The UMKC Pride Breakfast is a collaboration between the UMKC Division of Student Affairs & Enrollment Management, UMKC Diversity and Inclusion, and UMKC Advancement.

Lavender Graduate Banquet & Pride Awards: Each spring, LGBTQIA Programs and Services sponsors a celebration of UMKC Lavender Graduates, an event celebrating the achievements of our LGBTQIA graduates and honoring the contributions of UMKC students, faculty and staff.

UMKC Pride Month: Every April UMKC LGBTQIA students dedicate April to Pride–celebrating achievements, identity, and advocating for continued social justice in the LGBTQIA community.
