Fall 2010 applications for admission in A&S are up by 11.7 percent.
Spring 2010 enrollment by student credit hour (SCH) in A&S is 71,851. In Spring 2009, the number was 64,842.
Since fiscal year 2010 began on July 1, 2009, faculty in A&S have been awarded $2,834,671 in external grants and contracts.
The A&S Advising Office had 9,566 in-office visits with students in calendar year 2009. This was an increase of 818 over calendar year 2008. This does not include the many e-mail and phone advising sessions also handled each year by this office.
As of this issue, A&S has a total of 24,825 living alumni. Of these, 13,094 reside in the KC Metropolitan area.
In Spring 2010, total UMKC initial enrollment was 12,157 of which 4,139 were in A&S. In Spring 2009, the numbers were 11,639 and 3,911.
In Spring 2010, A&S will have 34 percent of UMKC’s enrollment in its classes and A&S faculty will teach 41.3 percent of all credit hours earned at UMKC. In Spring 2009, the counterpart percentages were 33.6 percent and 42 percent.
Total A&S NSF support for this period = $1,568,638.
Total UMKC NSF for this period = $8,543,025.
A&S Share = 18.4 percent
If we include the KCTEach-Noyes Scholarship (monies where we joined with others Schools in getting the award), the dollar amount goes to $2,487,638 and the A&S share of recent NSF funding was 29.1 percent.
Fast Fact Currently, there are 51 full-time staff in A&S with an average of 9.1 years of service at UMKC. There also are 22 part-time A&S staff with an average of 10.9 years of service at UMKC as of November 2009.
328 A&S students have applied to graduate at the December 18th Commencement. Of this number, 58 percent are women and 42 percent are men. Of the 328, 92 percent are undergraduates.
At the Spring 2009 Commencement, 502 A&S students were awarded degrees. Of these 60 percent were women and 40 percent men; 73 percent were undergraduates.
Fast Fact The average years of service for all regular faculty in the College is 15.2. Total years of service for professors is 1,478 years; for associate professors it is 970 years of service and assistant professors have 176 years of UMKC service. For non-regular faculty, the average is 10.5 years of service as of the start of AY 2009-2010.
The A&S Endowment Fund total currently stands at $9.225 million. Of that amount, almost $3 million is for scholarships.
