On Thursday, Sept. 24, the Midwest Poets Series kicks off with a reading by Scottish poet and translator Robin Robertson. Now living in London, Robertson is celebrating his latest book, Sailing the Forest: Selected Poems. According to John Banville in The Irish TimesSailing the Forest “is passion, savagery and tenderness, all combined and all controlled within a faultless technique.”

Robertson is the only poet to have won the United Kingdom’s Royal Society of Literature Forward Poetry Prize in all three categories: best book, best new book, and best poem from a book. He has published six collections of poetry and is a fellow of the Royal Society of Literature.

The reading starts at 7 p.m. in Arrupe Auditorium at Rockhurst University. A reception and book signing will follow. Click here for more information.
