Welcome, Thea!

By Thea Voutiritsas

TheaHi, I’m Thea Voutiritsas. I’m a junior here at UMKC, majoring in English Language and Rhetoric. I chose UMKC because it’s not too far from my hometown in Joplin MO, but I still get to experience some city-life.

I am new to the Women’s Center this year, and I’m very excited. I’m looking forward to working in an environment that celebrates and promotes the multicultural realities of women’s lives. Not only do I want to participate in a discourse for women going through various hardships, but also offer resources to women of all ages, races and identities.

My goal in the Women’s Center this semester is to promote constructive feminist activism on the UMKC campus by making an accessible community for newcomers. Getting involved in an activist community can be daunting, so creating a welcoming and loving environment can invite people to get involved who may otherwise feel too shy or excluded.
