Overview of Findings

KC LGBTQ+ Community Needs Assessment

Despite the growing body of research about LGBTQ+ people in the U.S., little is known about the characteristics and lived experiences of LGBTQ+ community members, particularly those who live in the Midwest. The KC Voices of Pride project sought to give voice to the thousands of LGBTQ+ individuals who live, work, and contribute to our Kansas City community. Over 1,100 LGBTQ people from 14-county Kansas City metropolitan area took the survey.

The Needs Assessment examined critical areas of need like safety; economic and housing security; medical and mental health care; drug and alcohol recovery; legal assistance; community connection and social life; and civic engagement. Explore some of our key findings below.
