Capturing a snapshot of the LGBTQ+ community’s unmet needs in the Kansas City Metro Area
LGBTQ+ people are found in every community, every workplace, and in every demographic group. Understanding and responding to this diverse community’s needs has been a key focus for many, including the Kansas City and the Pride Charitable Fund of Kansas City.
The Kansas City Voices of Pride Project is an effort to capture a snapshot of the LGBTQ+ community’s unmet needs. This project involved conducting a needs assessment through 8 months of data collection efforts, involving both qualitative and quantitative data from community members, leaders, and advocates.
These results will serve as a starting point for city leaders and officials to better understand and address current unmet needs. Additionally, the report will serve as a tool for community organizations and leaders to use to further their mission to improve community members’ quality of life as well as access to basic needs and services.
