About a dozen regional organizations descended upon Bloch Executive Hall last week to help UMKC students pursue potential jobs.
There was a wide variety of organizations, from KC Chamber to College Possible from Omaha, Nebraska. Other organizations present included Kansas City’s Starlight Theater, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Temple House, a religious organization out of St. Louis affiliated with the Salvation Army. Students at the event hoped to broaden their job search.
Hunter Hickey, a first-year MBA student, was pleased with the event.
“Making the rounds to the different employers was great,” he said. “It’s nice to view the different organizations in the community I would typically not know about.”
Scott Guerrero, Assistant Director of Financial Aid and Scholarships at UMKC’s Hospital Hill campus, was also pleasantly surprised by the event.
“I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect since this was my first networking event through the Bloch School,” he said. “I found myself surprised at some of the organizations presented at the fair, many of which were looking for students to fill internship positions.”
