When you live in the same city long enough, it begins to shift from vibrant to varying shades of gray. You might find yourself a patron of the same three restaurants or traversing the streets with no GPS necessary. I have moved five times in my life, so I haven’t had the opportunity for much complacency. However, I’d like to propose a perspective to live by.
Imagine your hometown as a foreign land you have never traveled to before. Taste the cuisine of Africa, Austria or India in the culturally diverse restaurants around town. Walk, rather than drive to your usual destinations, and greet passersby with a wave. There are so many secrets and experiences waiting in your backyard. Go see something new. Become a tourist of your own city.
Monday night restaurant feature: Grunauer
Don’t let menu items like “geschmorte schweinehaxe” or “altwiener tafelspitz” shy you away from this stellar dinner destination. Grunauer serves traditional Austrian and central European cuisine right in the heart of Crossroads KC. Grunauer was inspired by a restaurant of the same name that the family once ran in Vienna. They continue to craft authentic food that will send you around the world in one bite.
