UMKC Volleyball Pulls off straight sets victory

Roos Women’s Volleyball has stayed competitive all season, with record of 20-8 and 11-3 at home. Although the Roos won against Seattle University in straight sets on Saturday afternoon on Senior Day, each set took effort to pull off. The Roos, because of the victory, are tied for the WAC regular season title.

UMKC had to come back from a few points down to seal the victory. Neither team gave up and kept challenging each other. Seattle University made a few errors that proved beneficial for UMKC.

In the end, UMKC was able to get each set point without having to go into extended play.
There were highlights for the Roo that helped them clinch the win. Kynnedy Myers had 16 assists in the third set, with Ali Schomers having 13 assists in the second set. Rhegan Spiegel had 16 digs in the second set. Tyrecia Lukes had some nice points, and that helped prevent mistakes that might have undone the Roos. The second set for the Roos was the most challenging for them.

“I thought we had to push through a lot of adversity,” Myers said.
Seattle University did not go quietly, but the Roos answered each of the challenges their opponents presented.

Myers also said that UMKC had to find a different way to win, considering the challenge Seattle University presented.
UMKC closes out the season at New Mexico State and at UT Rio Grande, looking to clinch the WAC regular season title.
