All of UMKC softball’s three games against Utah Valley last weekend ended in disappointment for the Roos. UMKC lost the first game 2-10, the second 1-7 and the third 6-10.
The Roos were obliterated in the first inning of the first game, with the Utah Valley Wolverines scoring eight runs. There was little action offensively or defensively from the Roos.
“It’s obviously a very bad start,” said Coach Meredith Smith Neal after the first game. “We need to get on the board faster.”
The second game started well for the Roos, with UMKC scoring first. However, it was solely one run on one hit. Utah Valley also had four errors early on in the game, allowing the Roos to have a stronger offense, but ultimately, they fell severely to the Wolverines.
Saturday’s game ended stronger than Friday’s two games with a four-point loss, but the Roos were unable to take a game from Utah Valley.
