UMKC provides free HIV/ STI testing

Last Thursday, UMKC partnered with Student Health and Wellness, the Kansas City, Mo. Health Department and The Good Samaritan Project to sponsor a free health clinic to test for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and HIV.

The clinic took place in the Student Union from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The “Know Your Status” program is a free service that offers testing for HIV, chlamydia, gonorrhea and syphilis. In addition to testing, the program also offers advice on safe sex and abstinence.

The “Know Your Status” clinic usually takes place about twice a month, with two sessions in January and two sessions in February. There will also be two sessions in March. The next scheduled clinic is March 8.

The clinic is under the umbrella of The MindBody Connection, a service offered by UMKC to provide students ”with opportunities to enhance their emotional, mental, and physical health in support of academic success.”
