There’s no better or cheaper way to explore Kansas City than through happy hours. Get together with friends, and try new foods and drinks on a budget. Here are our recommendations for the best happy hours around UMKC.
1. Kona Grill, Country Club Plaza
A sushi place with a lot more to offer. Lettuce wraps, burgers and, of course, to-die-for drinks. Sit outside on a perfect people-watching patio or grab a high-top in the bar, and you’re in for a treat.
Monday-Friday, 3-7 p.m.
2. Hogshead, Country Club Plaza
Known for the best burger in town, check out Hogshead on the Plaza for a good cheap American meal. Pair that food with a $3 yard beer or $5 wine, and you’re set.
Daily, 3-6 p.m.
3. Brady’s Public House (formerly Mike’s Tavern), Troost and 54th Street
This traditional Irish Pub is located only a few blocks from campus. Curried spice fries, Irish sausage rolls and great drink specials give you a taste of Ireland in UMKC’s backyard.
Monday-Friday, 3-6 p.m.
4. BRIO Tuscan Grill, Country Club Plaza
A fine dining Italian restaurant that offers affordable bites and drinks for a college student budget, fun cocktails, great flatbreads and much more. This place is perfect for a first (or 14th) date night.
Monday-Friday, 3:30-6:30 p.m.
5. Café Trio, Country Club Plaza
Arguably the best patio with a view around UMKC, stop by Café Trio while we still have that summer weather. Whether you’re in the mood for fries or mussels, this restaurant caters to a variety of tastes.
Tuesday-Friday, 2-6 p.m.
