Sorority recruitment begins

Week gives female students opportunity to go Greek

The first day of school is around the corner.

If you are a freshman and would like to embark on an unforgettable college experience, you may wish to check out the Panhellenic Council.

Greek life is a great way to become involved on campus, meet people, be part of a wonderful family and have a great time throughout your college experience.

There are four sororities that fall under UMKC’s Panhellenic Council: Alpha Delta Pi, Chi Omega, Delta Zeta and Alpha Sigma Alpha.

UMKC is also home to a local sorority, Delta Rho.

“Cooperation for furthering fraternity life, in harmony with its best possibilities, is the deal that shall guide our fraternity activities,” is the Panhellenic Creed.

The Panhellenic Council and its four UMKC chapters’ focus their activities on four pillars: scholarship, leadership, community service and sisterhood.

Through the Panhellenic Council, students will have the opportunity to be part of events and experiences that will help them obtain leadership and social skills.

Each August, during the first week of school, the Panhellenic Council recruits new members.

At 8 p.m. on Aug. 24 and 25, the Recruitment Orientation and Fashion Show will take place at the Student Union Theater.

However, the last day to register for Panhellenic Recruitment is Wednesday, Aug. 24.

Next weekend (Aug. 25-28), Panhellenic Recruitment will take place at the Student Union.

There, students will have the opportunity to meet students from the four sororities. For more information, interested students can contact

Sisterhood is a key element in sororities.
