Roos suffer 6-1 loss to Billikens, Schulte wins singles match

The women’s tennis team was defeated 6-1 St. Louis University Friday evening at the Sunset Tennis Center.

The Billikens snatched the doubles point, winning two of three matches, while defeating the Roos (4-6) in singles play as they tallied five victories in six matches.

In doubles play, juniors Laura Boeut and Eva Dalvai gave the Roos an 8-1 victory over Jenny Nalepa and Maria Toto Moreno at the No.1 spot. However, Roo freshman Amelie Amsallem and junior Suzan Lisenby fell 0-8at No.2. Freshman Madeline Schulte and sophomore Gabriela Pintos lost 4-8 at No.3.

In singles, Schulte recorded the solitary Roo point with a 6-3, 4-6, 10-7 victory over Madeline Jolly at the No.6 spot.

After winning their doubles contest, Dalvai and Bouet suffered three-set defeats at the No.1 and No.2 spots respectively.

Dalvai lost 6-3, 3-6, 4-6 to Nalepa, while Bouet came up short in a 6-1, 3-6, 1-6 loss to Stephanie Hollis.

The Blue & Gold will take on Division II Abilene Christian Wildcats at 2 p.m. March 12 at the Plaza Tennis Center in Kansas City.
