Roos fall to Coyotes

The Roo’s ended their five game winning streak on Thursday against South Dakota. The mid-week games served as a warm up going into the WAC Conference tournament, but UMKC fell short. The Roo’s scored a record breaking 18 runs against the Coyotes during a pre-season game. Kansas City kept the lead for most of game one, until a 7th-inning hitting spree. Freshman pitcher Amber Grove kept USD on their toes at the plate upon entering the last half inning of the game. UMKC fell 4-3. Game two started off strong for the Roo’s when power hitter junior Katie Kelley hit a two-run home run in the first inning. Kansas City couldn’t keep their lead after South Dakota once again strung their hits together defeating the Roo’s 7-4. This double header concluded UMKC’s regular season. They will face California Bakersfield in game one of the conference tournament Thursday, May 7.
