Roos come up short against K-State

It wasn’t a lack of effort that led UMKC volleyball’s loss against Kansas State Tuesday night. The Roos played tough, but in the end but we not a match for the Wildcats.

The stats were not near  those of the earlier games in the season. Alicia Harrington had some good points for UMKC, and Ali Schomers had some assists.

UMKC played the first and third set well, but the second set was a tough loss, 25-16. There were few long points, in which both teams showed their capabilities. The Lady Roos had an occasional service ace, but nowhere near what was needed to pull out a victory.

Ali Schomers disappointed in the team’s performance.

“(It) probably wasn’t our best,” she said afterwards.

Schomers was glad, however, that Brooke Jacobs and Melanie Brecka played well in support of her.

The next contest for UMKC Women’s Volleyball is in St. Louis on Friday evening at 6 p.m.

Their current record is 7-4, with a 6-2 home record.
