Pyramid speed dating: Students learn about consent, safe sex and healthy relationships while looking for love

Speed dating can be a fun way for college students looking to find love. Students at UMKC can feel more secure after being enlightened on safe sex, healthy relationships, and consent.

Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated- Delta Rho Chapter, and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated – Lambda Epsilon Chapter, co-sponsored their annual Pyramid Love Speed Dating Friday.

The first part of the event involved a panel that discussed the practices of a healthy relationship, what safe sex is and what consent is.

The Chair of the event Kayla Pittman, Secretary of the Lambda Epsilon Chapter said
“Healthy relationships is something that is not really talked about in the black community, and to college students.”

Once the audience students learned about safe sex and consent, the speed dating began.

There were more women than men, but that didn’t stop students from participating. Some tables had two women for each man.

The event ran out of time, not allowing students to speed date with everyone.
