Men’s golf strokes the championship

The men’s golf team was victorious this past week in Primm, Nev., where they took first place in the Summit League Men’s Golf Championships for the first time in school history.

The Roos finished with a combined score of 860 (303-280-277), which was an amazing 10 strokes clear of runner-up Southern Utah. The team’s final round of 277 was also a single-round school record.

Junior Will Robson’s 207 (72-67-70) 7-under-par score earned him the runner-up spot at the tournament, while teammate Viktor Mikaelsson finished in third position with a 214 total.

Sophomore Korbin Kuehn earned a ninth place finish with some final round heroic’s which had him card a 69 for a 218 total. Freshman Cole Chelle finished in a tie for 10th after a personal-best round of 70 in the final round.

Chelle picked up the Newcomer of the Championships award, while J.W. VanDenBorn stole the Coach of the Year accolade. Robson and Mikaelsson were rewarded for their display with all-tournament recognition.

Congratulations to the golfing Roos as they go on to compete in the NCAA Regional Championships May 19-21.
