Looking forward

Recently, I made the tough decision to quit my nanny job of three years. While I feel as if a ginormous weight has been lifted off my shoulders, it wasn’t the easiest decision I have made. With that said, I feel it is often the most difficult decisions that yield the most extraordinary results.

Chances are your New Year’s resolution involves changing something in your life. Whether it is to work out more, eat less sugar, read more, etc., there is something in everyone’s life that can be changed. However, change is not always the easiest task to complete, and oftentimes it can be utterly terrifying. But that’s just it. That’s what makes life exciting, right? The unexpected outcomes that can yield from the smallest changes are what keep things interesting.

Now, I’m not saying you should drop out of school or move to another country, though that would be pretty exciting. I’m just suggesting that with the new semester, and a new year, we all take the time to reevaluate the things in our lives that might be weighing us down. Being in college is difficult enough as it is, we don’t need unnecessary baggage or stresses that can cause us to derail from our current path.

While I may have a hard time adjusting to not being a nanny anymore, I am excited for what’s to come. Like many other readers, this is my last semester at UMKC. After graduation in May, my life will be completely changed. And while that might be slightly terrifying, I’m still extremely eager to find out what lies ahead.
