Kansas City Super Bowl history

The Kansas City Chiefs played in the very first Super Bowl of American Football history in 1967. This game was originally known as the First AFL-NFL World Championship Game, later to be named Super Bowl I. The Chiefs represented the AFL (later to become the AFC) and the Green Bay Packers represented the NFL (later to become the NFC). The Packers defeated the Chiefs 35-10.

The second and last time the Chiefs made it to the Super Bowl was in 1970 for Super Bowl IV. Kansas City defeated the Minnesota Vikings 23-7. Chiefs fans have waited 45 years to see their painfully beloved team play in another Super Bowl … and they will wait at least one year more.

Fun fact: Kansas City was the only team this season to beat both the Patriots and the Seahawks.
