Getcha head in the game: Courtwarming is coming up

UMKC students can stay warm this winter with the blood-pumping, spirited events that Courtwarming has in store for them.

The university will host its annual Courtwarming from Feb. 23 to March 2 to celebrate basketball season.

Candidates from various school organizations will compete for the “Roo Royalty” crown in different events throughout the week.

Courtwarming will kick off at the women’s basketball game at 2 p.m. on Feb. 23. An ice-skating event will also take place at Crown Center the following day.

Prepare to be intrigued—this year’s theme is masquerade.

Be sure to attend the Masquerade Ball on Feb. 25 at 7 p.m. in Pierson Auditorium with a mask on. No mask? No worries—there will be a mask-making event at 1:30 p.m. in the Student Union.

Not interested in anything formal? Enjoy Courtwarming the following day, Feb. 26, by heading over to Swinney and watching bubble soccer at 5 p.m., or bring your A-game to trivia night on Feb. 27. Maybe all the research for school projects will come to the rescue.

Men’s basketball will have a game on Feb. 28, so you can enjoy Courtwarming even more by supporting your fellow Roos.

Start off March with high energy by going to “Yell Like Hell” on March 1. Be prepared to jump and cheer along as the Courtwarming candidates dance and put on sketches packed with energy.

The festivities will end when the “Roo Royalty” is crowned on March 2 at the men’s basketball game.
