Coffee and the Nelson? What could be better? The convenient location to UMKC and of course, the delicious coffee and lattes all helped earn this shop its first-place ranking. Quay started in the River Market, then opened its Nelson location last month.

Broadway Café

Broadway Cafe

This café is cute and unique. The coffee options are wide and the location at Westport Road and Broadway makes it a hotspot. They have a couple outdoors tables; perfect for people watching on a sunny day.

Crow’s Coffee:

Snuggled right next to UMKC on Oak and 52nd, Crow’s could not be more convenient –  unless it was actually on campus. Expansive tables in a spacious room make this a perfect meeting spot for group projects, studying before an exam or grabbing a coffee after class with friends.

Westport Coffee House:

Westport coffee house has a cozy, intimate vibe. This popular spot for UMKC students is located right next to the Tivoli theatre. If you grab a coffee before a movie or chill at one of the tables with friends, Westport Coffeehouse makes you feel at home. They also have jazz and improv every weekend in a basement room.

Roasterie at Brookside

Roasterie at Brookside

The Roasterie in Brookside:

The Roasterie has a few locations around Kansas City, including a roasting factory on Southwest Boulevard under the Roasterie airplane. The location in Brookside is close to campus and the shop has a nice mix of cozy chairs for sitting and talking as well as tables for studying.

    I love Quay Coffee! I’d say it’s the best I’ve ever had. It’s such a great view as well.
