Five new restaurants, coffee shops, bars in town

Whether you’re new to Kansas City or have lived here your whole life, everyone needs to try something new. Here are five new bars, restaurants and coffee shops around town that opened this summer.

1. Fox and the Pearl, 2143 Summit St.

This new restaurant near the Crossroads has interesting and delicious farm-to-table dishes. Grab happy hour at the bar, or dine downstairs in its candlelit basement. You won’t be disappointed.

2. Rieger Distillery,  2700 Guinotte Ave.

J. Rieger & Co., a favorite local liquor provider since before Prohibition, just opened a brand-new distillery in the former Heim Brewery. It offers three unique bars with all your favorite Rieger cocktails, great food and tours of their distillery.

3. Thee Outpost, 519 E 18th St.

This cute coffee shop is the new home for bean-roaster Thou Mayest. It’s in east Crossroads, has a small store inside to buy shirts and stickers, plenty of tables and couches for sitting or studying and, of course, great coffee.

4. Soiree Steak & Oyster House, 1512 E 18 St.

Located in the Jazz District at 18th and Vine, Soiree is the perfect date night. With oysters, steaks and delightful drinks, this is the ideal place to dine before hearing some great jazz music next door.

5. Pigwich, 20 E 5th St.

A long-time West Bottoms favorite, Pigwich opened a new location in the City Market. As both a restaurant and butchery, it is known for its meats and sandwiches. With both indoor and outdoor seating, the River Market location provides a great place to grab a bite after a morning of shopping.
