The men’s golf team took 8th place at the Ole Miss Bancorp South Intercollegiate last week. The Roos posted a 36-hole score of 580, just four shots over par at the challenging Reunion Golf and Country Club in Madison, Miss.
Rrain shortened the event to 36 holes for a field of 16 teams, 11 of which ranked in the nation’s top 100 programs. The Roos, with rounds of 293 and 287,outshot host Ole Miss by two strokes. Wichita State took the title with a score of 566 (276-290), 10 under par.In Monday’s opening round, junior Korbin Kuehn shot an impressive round of 69. After a rain delay midway through the second round, play was suspended until Tuesday morning. .
Kuehn tied for 10th with a two-under-par 142 (69-73). That earned him the third Summit League Player of the Week award of his career.
Sophomore Cole Chelle finished tied for 32nd place after posting a total of 146 (76-70), while sophomore Jack Fiscus finished tied for 39th after rounds of 77 and 70.. Fiscus’ round was highlighted by a hole-in-one on the par-three, 15th hole, the second ace by a Roo this season.Senior Will Robson scored an ace at the Kansas Invitational in September.The Roos will be back in action April 14-15 in the Taylormade Hawkeye Invitational in Iowa City, Iowa. That will serve as their final warmup tournament before the Summit League Championships.
