UMKC Police responded to a call at the 5300 block of Rockhill Road early Sunday morning after a group of men tried to force their way into a party, destructing the property and assaulting two victims.

According to a statement released by the UMKC Police Department, five to six unidentified men showed up at the party around 12:25 a.m., breaking one of the windows in an attempt to get in.

When the first victim confronted the uninvited guests, one of the suspects crushed a beer bottle over their head and began punching and kicking the victim. The rest of the suspects joined in and continued to physically attack the victim at the same time.

All suspects fled the property as the campus police arrived at the scene.

The two victims were evaluated by ambulance and did not need any further treatment.

“We want to remind you to be attentive to your surroundings at all times–whether on campus, shopping or at home,”the email stated. “If you feel threatened or suspect someone is following you, call 911 for help.”
