LGBT+ student organizations and LGBTQIA Programs and Services are teaming up to provide a month of educational, social and advocacy-based events for the annual Pride Month at UMKC. While October is traditionally LGBT history month and June is traditionally Gay Pride Month, UMKC holds Pride Month in April so the school’s LGBT+ can celebrate during the academic year.
Pride Month speaker Kylar Broadus
Kylar Broadus is the senior public policy counsel and director of the National LGBTQ Task Force’s Transgender Civil Rights Project. Broadus was the first openly transgender person to testify before the U.S. Senate, in support of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act. Broadus will be discussing diversity, equity and inclusion at his UMKC appearance.
