Chancellor Mauli Agrawal announced a new multi-million dollar scholarship program on Jan. 29, following a recent $20 million scholarship program proposed in November.
Agrawal discussed new scholarship opportunities alongside the University of Missouri System President, Mun Choi, and other major donors and educational partners in Student Union.
This second major scholarship initiative is a combination of three programs based on the financial need and academic merit of students from the Greater Kansas City area, including transfers and first-time college students.
The money is said to be financed from local foundations and the university.
UMKC introduced its first scholarship program of $20 million in November, which partnered with the University of Missouri Systems and KC Scholars to offer 400 low-to-modest-income students from the Kansas City metropolitan area admission and aid from the university over the next nine years.
