A weekend of extremes

After an impressive victory over Nebraska-Omaha on Friday, the Lady Roos (12-11) lost 7-0 on the road to the University of Arkansas-Little Rock on Saturday morning.

Despite opening doubles play with a win from the No.1 team of Eva Dalvai and Laura Bouet, the Roos lost the remaining two doubles matches. The Roos lost all six singles matches in straight sets.

That loss represented an abrupt turnaround from Friday, when the Roos defeated Nebraska-Omaha, 6-1 at the Plaza Tennis Center. The Roos won all three doubles contests, while winning five of six singles matches.

In doubles, the No.1 pair of juniors Bouet and Dalvai won 8-5. At No.2, junior Suzan Lisenby and freshman Amelie Amsallem won a 9-8 after a 7-3 tie-breaker victory. At No. 3, freshman Madeline Schulte and sophomore Gabriela Pinto won 8-6.

In singles Dalvai fell in three sets in the No.1 match while Amsallem also was extended to three sets in a 1-6, 6-4, 10-4 victory at No.3. The Roos also got victories from Bouet, Schulte, Lisenby and senior Jillian Yakominich.

The Lady Roos will next play in the Summit League Championships on April 27-28 at the Plaza Tennis Center, as they seek a spot in the NCAA Championships.
