Zachary Jackson Wants to Use His Business and Culinary Skills to Open a Lodge

Business administration major | Henry W. Bloch School of Management
Graduation Year: 2015

Why did you choose UMKC?

I chose UMKC because of the reputation of the business school. My dad is an alumnus of the School of Law, so I thought this would be an awesome place for an education. I love the professors and the real-world experience they provide.

Where is UMKC taking you?

It’s helping me further my education and career. I previously attended culinary school at Johnson County Community College and needed more knowledge of and expertise in business. I want to have a lodge – where my cooking skills will be used and have hunting and fishing available for my guests. UMKC also provided networking opportunities.

“Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive and go do that, because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”

What are your lifelong goals?

I want to be successful, to conduct and run a business in an ethical manner and support myself and my family.

What motto do you live by?

Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive and go do that, because what the world needs is people who have come alive.

What excites you?

Cooking, hunting, fishing, graduating (he graduated in December) and spending time with my family.
