#UMKCFrenchArtChallenge

They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!

Taking inspiration from the Rijksmuseum and the Getty Museum (and others) we challenge you (and ourselves) to recreate a French work or art during French Week @ UMKC: November 4 -10, 2020.

1. Find French Art You Like

Browse Google images, or the collection at the Louvre (louvre.fr) or your favorite museum (the Nelson-Atkins in Kansas City has an amazing French art collection, for example: nelson-atkins.org). (Here are some more collections with images available to download and use for free: try LACMA, The Met,Cleveland, Indianapolis, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Walters, or the National Gallery.)

2. Pose Objects, Pets, and/or People

Here are some ideas to get you thinking:

Photograph and Post

If you use Twitter or Instagram, share your creation with the world there using the hashtags #umkcfrenchartchallenge (and if you like, the hashtags that started it all: #betweenartandquarantine and #tussenkunstenquarantaine.

If you use Facebook instead, you can post it to your feed or send it to us via messenger: @umkcfrench

If you want to unite the two photos—the original and the re-creation—into a single image, you can use photo-editing software like Photoshop, or use a app like PicCollage (an example).
