TK DeWitt

Adjunct Associate Professor

Biography

TK DeWitt joined the faculty of the UMKC Conservatory in 2020. He is also the Associate Principal Bassoonist and Contrabassoonist for the Kansas City Symphony. He is also the Principal Bassoonist of the Breckenridge Music Festival.

Mr. DeWitt received his Bachelors in Bassoon Performance from the Univeristy of Texas at Austin, where he studied with Kristin Wolfe Jensen. At UT, he was winner of the Winds Concerto Competition, leading to a performance of Mozart’s Bassoon Concerto. He received his Master’s in Bassoon Performance from Rice University, where he studied with Benjamin Kamins.

While at Rice, he was appointed Second Bassoon of the Houston Grand Opera Orchestra. While in Houston he also was a regular player with the Houston Symphony and Houston Ballet. In 2013, he began his current position with the Kansas City Symphony.
