Adulting is hard, as more than one student has probably told you. Dressing the part can make it a bit easier, and faculty and staff can help students with that.
The JCPenney store at Oak Park Mall in Overland Park is sponsoring a special event Feb. 9 just for UMKC students and alumni. The store is offering a discount of up to 60 percent on career wear for students and their families, alumni, and faculty/staff volunteers who sign up to help with the event. Special discounts for the store’s portrait studio and hair salon will also be available.
It’s a great opportunity for students to get the clothing they need to look professional for internships, job interviews and that first post-graduation step on the career ladder. The store will be closed to the general public and employees will be solely focused on taking care of our university community.
Faculty and staff can help by promoting this opportunity to students. Plus, they can participate by volunteering to help with signing in students at the event; volunteers will also get the up to 60 percent discount on career wear.
The JCPenney College Suit Up event for UMKC is from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday Feb. 9 at Oak Park Mall, 95th and Quivira in Overland Park. To volunteer, contact Molly Wilensky at firstname.lastname@example.org.
