Funding Available for Diversity and Inclusion Projects


In alignment with goal five of the UMKC Strategic Plan, to embrace diversity, the UMKC Division of Diversity and Inclusion announces the Inclusive Excellence Award. This award will support projects and initiatives that further the goals of the UMKC Diversity Strategic plan.

An Inclusive Excellence Award of up to $5,000 is available to any faculty/staff member, campus group, department, office, division or academic unit that seeks to advance one or several of the five diversity dimensions as outlined in the UMKC Diversity Strategic Plan.

Inclusive Excellence projects can include but not be limited to research, inclusive pedagogies/curriculum infusion, educational opportunities, multicultural activities and community outreach/pipeline programs. Student applicants are required to have a staff or faculty sponsor.

The deadline for applications is April 14. A complete list of guidelines is available for download. A subcommittee of the Chancellor’s Diversity Council will review proposals and select awardees. Proposals will be reviewed based on proposal guidelines. Funding is made at the sole discretion of the review committee which reserves the right to reject any or all proposals submitted, or award partial funding. For more information, please contact
