Diversity 101 for the University of Missouri System

Diversity 101 is a free, highly interactive, fully online professional development course that explores the concepts of diversity and inclusion particularly as they pertain to the higher education workplace. It is open to faculty and staff from any of the UM System campuses. The course was designed to engage mixed groups of faculty and staff from across departments and units in a learning process that will enhance our capacity to build a culture where everyone feels they are welcome, they belong and they can thrive.

Participants will engage in approximately two to three hours of online discussion and reflection per week throughout the six-week course. Topics include engagement with fellow faculty and staff on building a learning community for personal and organizational growth; inclusive excellence; diversity on campus; obstacles to inclusion; building a culture of inclusion; and action planning and moving forward.

Diversity 101 is offered in the fall, Sept. 8 – Oct. 20; and winter/spring, Jan. 12 – Feb. 23, 2018. For more information about the Diversity 101 program, visit the website.
