Helping Students Build Writing Skills

Peer response is a key element of Writing Intensive courses at UMKC. The challenge for instructors is making sure students not only participate in workshops, but that they offer useful feedback based on learning outcomes.

Margaret Kincaid, Biological Sciences, and Steven Melling, Communication Studies, have found that online workshops are an effective way to facilitate peer response in their courses. To learn more about online workshops, please join Kincaid and Melling from 1 to 3 p.m., Monday, Nov. 11, in Atterbury Student Success Center Room 236 for a presentation sponsored by the University Writing and Reading Board (UWRB) that is free and open to all UMKC instructors.
