Path to College Evaluation

Focus Areas: Essential Skills/SEL, Career Pathways, Postsecondary Education

Year: 2025

The Path to College initiative supports a literature review and the development of a measure for college and career readiness.

The Northeast Community Center recently developed the Path to College program to serve students and their families, primarily first-generation college students. The program offers personalized college guidance counseling, scholarship application assistance, college tours, career exploration, and a guaranteed scholarship for Harmony Project KC graduates.

This capacity-building initiative focuses on building Northeast Community Center’s capacity to implement evidence-based practices and measure outcomes for Path to College participants as well as continue to support program alumni. The UERC will help the Path to College initiative expand their career readiness tools by conducting a literature review of high school career preparation programs. The literature review will focus on strategies and practices that have strong evidence of success with high school students. Additionally, the UERC will help the Path to College initiative develop a measure to assess the development of essential college and workplace skills, including collaboration, communication, critical thinking, proactivity, executive functioning, interpersonal skills, career literacy, and networking skills.
