KCCAN Landscape Analysis

This needs assessment examines college and career readiness and attainment in the 5-county Kansas City metropolitan region

The Kansas City College and Career Attainment Network (KCCAN) is a new regional network dedicated to increasing postsecondary attainment for Kansas City metro students from low-income communities. Building off the Missouri College and Career Attainment Network’s (MOCAN) collaborative work through the KC FAFSA Initiative, KCCAN brings together colleagues from high schools, community organizations, higher education institutions and workforce partners to develop a community strategic plan to increase postsecondary attainment for KC metro students. KCCAN is also launching a new program to provide college and career advising support to students in Kansas City Public Schools.

The UERC supports this process by:

  • Conducting a landscape analysis of high school graduation trends and postsecondary enrollment, persistence, and attainment in Kansas City.
  • Providing a snapshot of key indicators, including ACT and FAFSA completion rates across the KC metro area.
  • Analyzing labor market trends to highlight high-growth, high-paying career opportunities in the region.

UERC also provides consultation and data support as KCCAN develops and refines its strategic plan.
