Outreach Committee
The mission of the UMKC Staff Council Outreach Committee is to promote the university’s key mission areas and visibility by positive engagement between the university and the broader community through service and collaboration.
Outreach EventsThe Committee Agenda
- Plan and implement service projects, working with faculty and/or students on at least three of them.
- Set up a communication/calendar system to tie staff into all of the different opportunities for service projects within UMKC and the Kansas City Metro.
Service Projects
Some of the service projects the Outreach Committee plans and participates in include drives for Operation Breakthrough, UMKC Kangaroo Pantry and Toys for Tots. Group projects include Veterans Community Project, Avenue of Life, Della C. Lamb Community Center for Operation Thanksgiving, Salvation Army, Kansas City Rescue Mission, Frontier School of Excellence, Harvesters and Pemberton Park for Grandfamilies. Hope baskets include LULAC National Educational Service Center (Upward Bound), Tom’s Mission, St. James Food Pantry, Restoration House and Amethyst Place. The Outreach committee also helps organize/considers outside funding requests.
